This position requires access to information controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the successful candidate must be a "U.S. person" as defined in the ITAR and EAR (which generally means (i) be a citizen or national of the United States; or (ii) be a lawful permanent resident of the United States; or (iii) have been admitted to the United States as a refugee, or have been granted asylum, as specified under applicable law.

 

Job Summary

The Hazardous Waste Technician will be responsible for implementing and maintaining regulatory requirements relating to the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Certified Unified Program Agency (CUPA) and Department of Transportation (DOT). This position will be working with engineers and technicians daily to ensure our Engineering and Manufacturing Operations can support the company's goals while meeting all environmental objectives and regulatory requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for environmental compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations and associated agencies
  • Perform tasks related to regulatory hazardous waste handling, storage and disposal requirements per local, state, and federal governing bodies
  • Monitor and manage levels of hazardous waste at each department's satellite accumulation area
  • Identifying all hazardous material and hazardous waste and ensuring that all stated are properly stored, used and disposed of based on material classification
  • Determine waste process and implementation of new waste streams
  • Ensure all hazardous material and hazardous waste is properly labeled
  • Accurately record and maintain hazardous waste inventory logs and conduct frequent auditing per company's guidelines
  • Conduct audits related to the conditions and handling of storage locations
  • Prepare and schedule the process in which hazardous waste is disposed per company guidelines and government regulations
  • Implement and control the Spill Prevention Countermeasures and Control Plan (SPCC)
  • Order, receive, and maintain all materials needed to support containment and disposal method supplies
  • Perform environmental compliance and due diligence audits
  • Manage hazardous materials and ensure all hazardous materials are labeled and stored properly in the storage areas

 

Required Skills

  • Implementation and maintaining a hazardous materials and hazardous waste program that conforms with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Managing hazardous waste storage and accumulation areas
  • Deploying and leading emergency response crews in incidents involving hazardous and non-hazardous material releases to air, soil and water
  • Knowledge in providing situational PPE requirements based on risk assessment level with the application of hazardous material and hazardous waste in work environment
  • Ability to administer general/emergency first aid and CPR

  • Demonstrated strong propensity for hands-on work and attention to detail in either academic or career pursuits
  • Ability to multi-task, to manage shifting priorities and to follow through on projects with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a construction/industrial environment
  • Ability to communicate well with technicians and engineers
  • Strong organizational and communication skills

 

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 yrs. experience in manufacturing environment

 

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma, G.E.D., five (5) years’ work experience with accredited certification program, or two (2) years related technical training program/military technical training with two (2) years’ work experience.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Manual Dexterity - The ability to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects and perform maintenance tasks.
  • Correctable Vision and Hearing.
  • Ability to stand/walk and perform physical labor for most of the working shift. Pull, push, squat. etc. to accomplish repairs.
  • Intermittently lift loads of up to 50 pounds
